Maria: Valencia, CA
Nestled in the quiet suburbs of Southern California is a rare find among the common, traditional style homes. Completely encapsulating Spanish style inside and out, Maria’s home has been one of our favorite custom design projects. Working hand in hand with Maria, Demejico’s design team was able to enhance the present Spanish style flair in this beautiful home.
Before entering her home, Maria, her family, and her guests take a stroll through a beautiful, enclosed courtyard with Spanish style pavers, custom wrought iron gates, and a few of our outdoor furniture pieces.
Upon walking into the home, we have installed a classic Spanish entry door. Similar to our Puerta Montesario, this solid alder wood door features a full arch with hand shaped multi-panels.
Upon entering the home, elegant and eye-catching custom wrought iron staircase railings grab your attention. With a unique scrollwork design, these railings really give off an authentic, Spanish flair. Complementing these iron railings, but not taking away, we have added in a small, travertine top coffee table with a scrolled iron base to this front living room area.
Moving through this space and further into the home, we have installed a set of double doors that lead to a private office space, next to a small dining area. These interior doors feature gorgeous, hand forged scrollwork panels, perfect for just the right amount of privacy. In the dining area, four bold chairs upholstered with light leather beautifully contrast the dark hardwood floors, sideboard buffet, dining table and wrought iron chandelier. With subtle curves and hand carved details, these dining chairs are both comfortable and elegant.
One of our favorite additions to Maria’s home is the Armario Hacienda entertainment center. Custom created, it functions in both entertainment and storage, which is just what Maria asked for.
Finishing off the first floor interior of Maria’s Spanish style home, our final additions are in the kitchen and dining space. Creating a warm and welcoming environment, Maria’s kitchen space shows off warm colors with comfortable seating.
Whether it is around the smooth, travertine top table with iron base, or at the kitchen island with a custom old wood countertop, Maria can surely enjoy a meal and conversation with family and friends. Taking inspiration from our Silla Haciendita, the chairs that sit around Maria’s new kitchen table show off smooth upholstered leather, paired with subtle Spanish curves and detailing. Complementing these kitchen chairs, and inspired by our Swivel Jay Counterstools, these barstools feature the same leather upholstery, but with an iron framework, and a modern touch.
The final addition to Maria’s home was a special request that Maria had been dreaming of for years. Unlike any other bedroom door, Maria wanted to spice up her space with a one-of-a-kind, Dutch style door. Bringing in our Spanish style, this Dutch door was custom created from the ground up. With a separate hinged top and bottom, Maria’s master bedroom door features iron scrollwork within a picturesque Spanish arch on top, accompanied by a raised panel bottom.
